Follow-up Detectives from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Bureau, continue seeking public assistance in obtaining information related to the disappearance of Kristal Forest during the weekend of March 28th 2009. Kristal’s family and friends have not seen or heard from Kristal since that time. Kristal’s dogs and property are also missing. Kristal is 65 years old, 5’8” in height, 135 pounds, with medium blonde graying hair, and green eyes. Kristal was moving from Cottonwood, AZ to Austin, TX and she never arrived at her destination in Texas. Kristal resided in Cottonwood and on occasion in the Cornville and Lake Montezuma communities.
Kristal was last seen in the company of 57-year-old Robert Reed, aka “Charles Olson,” a Camp Verde resident. Reed had befriended Kristal and was apparently helping her with the move. Kristal and Robert Reed were last seen at the A1 Storage yard in the 3700 block of Highway 260, Camp Verde, on or about March 28, 2009. Kristal’s 1997 red Pathfinder and a U-Haul trailer were also present at that time. Further investigation revealed Kristal’s U-Haul trailer had been towed to a storage yard on North Main Street in Las Cruces, New Mexico, around 2 AM on April 2, 2009. The now empty trailer was delivered by unknown person(s) in a dark colored, full sized, extended cab truck with 5 cab roof lights. Detectives are hoping to locate the driver of this truck or anyone with knowledge of the trailer’s delivery to the Las Cruces storage yard. A surveillance photo of the truck and trailer being driven into the storage yard is attached – Detectives recently returned from Las Cruces and Austin, Texas, as part of the continuing investigation and are still seeking leads.
Case Detective Alex Jaramillo may be contacted directly by cell phone at 928-830-8166 with information. If you would prefer to remain anonymous, please contact Yavapai Silent Witness at 1800-932-3232.
Additional background regarding Reed – Detectives believe Reed traveled with Kristal for part of the trip east beginning around March 28, 2009. In August 2009, Reed was found in possession of Kristal’s 1997 Nissan Pathfinder which remains in Sheriff’s custody. At that time, Reed was arrested on unrelated charges and is currently serving 10-year prison sentence. Detectives remain in contact with him but he has provided no credible information as to her whereabouts.

YCSO Detectives Continue Seeking Public Help in Locating Missing Person Detectives from the Yavapai County Sheriff’s Office, Criminal Investigations Bureau, continue to seek public assistance in obtaining information related to the disappearance of Kristal Forest during the weekend of March 28th 2009.
Kristal’s family and friends have not seen or heard from Kristal since that time. Kristal’s dogs and property are also missing. Kristal is 64 years old, 5’8” in height, 135 pounds, with medium blonde graying hair, and green eyes. Kristal was moving from Cottonwood, AZ to Austin, TX and she never arrived at her destination in Texas. Kristal may have worn a skirt and top, and may have had her hair pulled back at the time of her disappearance. Bank activity ceased after March 28, 2009. She also resided on occasion in the Cornville and Lake Montezuma area. 55-year-old Robert Reed, aka “Charles Olson,” from Camp Verde had befriended Kristal and was seen assisting with the move. Reed possibly traveled with her for part of the trip. Kristal took her two dogs, both medium sized, approximately 30-40 pounds, tan/rust color, and short fur, in her red 1997 Nissan Pathfinder. Kristal was towing an open sided U-Trailer with ramp from Cottonwood to Texas. Detectives learned Kristal’s U-Haul trailer had been towed to a storage yard in Las Cruces, New Mexico, around 2 A.M. on April 2, 2009. The now empty trailer was delivered by unknown persons in a dark colored full sized extended cab truck, possibly a Ford F250 or F350 model, to the Las Cruces storage lot. Detectives would like the driver of that truck, and anyone with knowledge of the trailer’s delivery, to provide information to Yavapai Sheriff’s Office. A surveillance photo of the drop off is attached.
In August of 2009, Reed was located by detectives and found in possession of Kristal’s Nissan Pathfinder, computer and other personal property. He claimed to have purchased Kristal’s Nissan from her. Reed was arrested on a warrant unrelated to this case. Robert Reed is currently serving time in the Arizona Department of Corrections on unrelated charges. Reed has been uncooperative with detectives throughout the investigation. Robert Reed is 6’2” in height, approximately 250 pounds, blond curly hair, and blue eyes. At the time of Kristal’s disappearance, he had medium length curly hair and a scruffy beard. Robert Reed went by the names “Charles Olson”, and “Chef Charlie” during March and April. Robert Reed was known as a homeless person in the Riverfront Park area of Cottonwood. Robert Reed frequented Riverfront Park, Dead Horse Ranch State Park, the Verde Valley, Cottonwood, and Phoenix areas prior to Kristal Forest’s disappearance. Robert Reed may have been in some of these areas on the weekend of Kristal Forest’s disappearance.
Reed used “Craigslist” frequently under the alias “Charles Olson” and possibly arranged transport and delivery of the trailer to Las Cruces through a contact on Craigslist.
Additionally, detectives would like information from the public on any sightings of Kristal Forest, Robert Reed, and a red 1997 Nissan Pathfinder with U-Haul trailer during the dates of March 28th through April 2nd, 2009. Any leads the public may provide are important in resolving the disappearance of Kristal Forest, her dogs and her property.
Please contact Detective Alex Jaramillo at .928.771.3278 or Yavapai Silent Witness at 800.932.3232 if you have any information that could lead to locating Kristal.

Detectives have determined that Kristal was last seen with a man identified as Robert Reed, 55, on March 29, 2009, in Camp Verde. Kristal planned to drive her red 1997 Nissan Pathfinder while towing a U-Haul trailer to Austin, Texas. She was scheduled to arrive on April 2, 2009, but never did and has not been heard from since.
