July 19, 2010 — The VH1 2010 Do Something Awards is about being a positive influence in your life and the community. So when the morons covered in oil showed up to get all political (and appearing rather disgusting) who could argue they were NOT the worst dressed. And let’s not forget, this isn’t positive at all, it is exactly the opposite. Unfortunately this isn’t in the spirit of the show nor can anyone say it was a delight to see them. Instead it appears to be a prank gone wrong with lots of yucky visual to go with it.
Since 1996, Do Something has honored the nation’s best young world-changers — like Maggie Doyne who created an orphanage in Nepal at the age of 17 and now (at the ripe age of 22) is the legal guardian to 27 children. Do Something award winners represent the pivotal “doers” in their field, cause, or issue. The five nominees will be rewarded with a community grant, participation in this live tv show, media coverage and continued support from Do Something. The grand prize winner received $100,000 during the live broadcast.
The worst dressed (study the photo above) hopefully got kicked to the curb. They didn’t give their names (and rightfully so as they should be embarassed to show up like that at an award show.)
