“Who saw Hugh today?” was the topic of conversation on the Mason, Michigan Facebook page. Who saw stage and film star Hugh Jackman? It seems quiet a few people did. So what brings People’s Sexiest Man Alive 2008 to Hometown USA? July 1st and 2nd DreamWorks cast and crew for the upcoming film ‘Real Steel’ is filming in town.
Besides Hugh Jackman the cast also includes Dakota Goyo, Evangeline Lilly, Kevin Durand, and Anthony Mackie. Steven Spielberg is one of the executive producers. For a synopsis of the movie “Real Steel” you can visit the movie’s official DreamWorks site HERE.
On the Mason Facebook page the consensuses has been not only does Jackman deserve the title ‘Sexiest Man Alive’ but he is a terrific ‘guy’. Taking time to shake hands, sign autographs, and even pose for pictures with locals. Yes, small town America gets excited about something as big as Hugh Jackman coming to town but there has also been some hopes voiced that Jackman will tell everyone how great Michigan is.
Today was a perfect day for visitors to Mason – not too hot but not cold and sunny. No one seems to really know why DreamWorks choose the Ingham County Courthouse located in Mason to be included in the new film although it is an impressive building (pictured to the right here). The beautiful Michigan weather also provided several terrific photos of Jackman in his ‘attractive’ shades – rumor has it he is tired of his title.
If for some reason you are not familiar with Hugh Jackman a few of his roles included parts in the X-Men series, his leads in Kate & Leopold, Van Helsing, The Prestige, and Australia just to name a few. Born Hugh Michael Jackman in Sydney, Australia to English parents Jackman is the youngest of five children.
Mason, Michigan is located just a few minutes drive south of Lansing and Michigan State University. The Cobblestone Village antiques district and quiet small town atmosphere make it a great escape from the big city. If visiting the area you will want to make sure to visit the courthouse where filming was done and the farmer’s market that runs each Saturday morning during the summer months. You may not get to see Hugh Jackman when you visit Mason but there are plenty of other great sights and you never know, he may fall in love with Michigan and move his family here!
