We have all seen it happen to mature older women who have the package. They always dress like a professional, are attractive, have the skills, knowledge and intelligence to be leaders in any corporate environment but don’t get the job.
The candidate is greeted by an interviewer (woman) wearing jeans or capri’s who is also not as well groomed as the candidate. Strike #1
If the interviewer is over-weight and the candidate is tall, slim, and attractive and projects confidence. Strike #2
Next comes the interview questions and it‘s obvious the candidate is more qualified than the interviewer; “Strike #3 your out”. There is no way the candidate will get the job; even with the best, most qualified skills and professional image due to the interviewer being intimidated by their own fear.
If the intervier had been dressed professionally and groomed appropriately it would have given them more self-confidence. The interviewer’s appearance reflects the image of the company they work for.
Don’t let this type of interview beat you down. This is not an environment you would have enjoyed working in.
A skilled, qualified and professional interviewer would have welcomed a qualified and professionally dressed candidate as a wonderful asset to the team.
