The perennial oil and gas whiners of the Alaska’s state legislature, Sen. Bill Weilechowski and Rep. Les Gara are at it again. These two clowns believe they know more than the market when it comes to oil and gas investment in Cook Inlet, and liquefied natural gas (LNG). These men are lawyers, with no business experience who fail to understand that investment in Cook Inlet is market driven.
I have been attending Mayor Dan Sullivan’s Energy Task Force meetings for over six months now because of my concerns regarding Cook Inlet, and whether or not my family is going to freeze in the winter of 2013. The Mayor’s Energy Task Force is made up of the “cream of the crop” when it comes to energy issues; and these folks are people I trust. Never, in my tenure of attending these meetings have Sen.. Weilechowski, Rep. Gara or their staffers been present. If they care so much about Southcentral freezing where were they? Especially, when these legislators are residents of Anchorage.
Alaska has been exporting LNG for decades. Now, these legislators would like to interfere with ConocoPhillps LNG license? Seriously? These six legislators (Rep. Gara, Gardner, Tuck, Petersen, and Sen. French and Davis) have us in Southcentral on a path to freezing in 2013. Our only saving grace is Cook Inlet storage of which this bunch may find ways to screw that up.
I always thought it was interesting why the local media cared about what Rep. Les Gara and his friends’ thought in regards to energy because they are portrayed in the local media as experts. Would it surprise you that Rep. Gara’s close friend is the Anchorage Daily News editorial page editor Matt Zencey? Ahhh, it’s all making sense now Alaska.
