One very affordable option for experiencing the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games is a general admission (or grounds pass) ticket. A grounds pass ticket, which costs $25, gives you access to five major destinations points:
• The Alltech Experience Pavilion,
• The Equine Village,
• The Kentucky Experience,
• The Trade Fair, and
• The 2014 French Pavilion
Also, kids ages 12 and under, when accompanied by a paying adult, get in free to these areas! At this price, a family with two adults and multiple children can have hours of fun and entertainment in a world’s fair type atmosphere for just $50.
Despite being the pinnacle of equestrian competition, the Alltech FEI World Equestrian Games are not just about horses! In the Alltech Experience Pavilion, both children and adults alike will learn about farming, food, and the environment from Alltech, the title sponsor of the Games. This area includes:
• Kidzone, where children learn about living on a farm and where their food comes from in an interactive exhibit,
• Specially designed gardens by celebrity gardener Jon Carloftis,
• A petting station from the Newport Aquarium with live sharks and penguins, and
• Sample giveaways of Dippin’ Dots ice cream, an Alltech invention!
The Equine Village will include entertainers from around the world, demonstrations, and special exhibits that are sure to educate everyone on the equestrian world. In this spot you will find 400 additional horses, 100 demonstrators, Horse Ball games, EquiMania for kids, and a champion sandcastle builder! The Kentucky Experience is the premiere place to learn more about the culture of the Bluegrass State. It is a showcase of Kentucky with interactive exhibits, artists, tastings, and live entertainment. In the Trade Fair, nearly 300 exhibitors will offer a variety of gifts, collectibles, artwork, apparel, jewelry, and other unique merchandise. Lastly, the French Pavillon is where guests will have an opportunity to experience Normandy in 2014 for the next World Equestrian Games. Here there will be samples of French cheeses, chocolates, apple brandy, and also cooking demonstrations by French chefs.
With access to these five areas, the total cost of the general admission ticket equates to paying just five dollars for each exhibit! This compares very favorably with other museums in the area, some of which charge $30 or more for admission. As another point of comparison, adult admission into Kings Island costs $50 per ticket. And estimates for the 2012 Olympics in London are $77 for the average ticket.
In addition to the grounds pass tickets, there is a limited-time Alltech FEI Games promotion where select tickets are available at 30% savings. The promotion, which ends September 6, has competition tickets ranging as low as $25. In addition to the specific competition, this ticket also gives you general admission access. Another option for experiencing the Games is working as a volunteer. Volunteers will receive general admission access to the event all 16 days. Among other benefits, volunteers receive free hospitality (food, beverage) while on duty and exclusive apparel items.
