We’re fortunate to have so many triathlon races around the Bay Area, and August is the perfect time to put your training to the test. Below are two triathlons happening this month:
1. Folsom Olympic Triathlon- Sunday August 15th.
This triathlon is a perfect both experienced racers and people doing their first triathlon. This 1.2 mile swim is in Folsom Lake, followed by a relatively flat 24.9 mile bike, and a 6.2 run. At the finish, athletes enjoy a fully catered meal, beer and party! Great way to spend a Sunday. The cost is $135 with a relay option of $175. Click here to learn more.
2. San Francisco Triathlon at Alcatraz- August 28-29
This race is not to be confused the THE Escape From Alcatraz triathlon that happens in June. It is a similar course, with the same 1.5 mile ocean swim starting at Alcatraz to the Marina Green. From there you’ll bike 25 miles on hills and descents, which makes the bike more technical. Finally, you’ll run 7 miles around the Presidio and Baker’s Beach. This triathlon is perfect for more experienced triathletes with swim experience. The cost is $360 or $180 each as a relay. Learn more about the triathlon by clicking here.
