‘Twilight Saga: Eclipse’: Dakota Fanning talks about becoming ‘Jane’ and ‘Runaways’ (INTERVIEW)

by damp fang

Amidst all the hoopla surrounding Team Jacob or Team Edward in “Twilight Saga: Eclipse,” movie star Dakota Fanning takes it all in stride. In the spotlight since she was a child, Fanning has starred in movies with such heavy weights as Denzel Washington, Charlize Theron, Queen Latifah and Sean Penn. Being part of the phenomenon that Twilight have become is very comfortable to her.

In the summary of this movie, Bella Swan (Kristen Stewart) is once again in danger. She must choose between her love for Edward Cullen (Pattinson) and her friendship with Jacob Black (Taylor Lautner) – knowing that her decision has the potential to ignite the ageless struggle between vampire and werewolf.

Fanning plays Jane, one of the bad girls out to get Bella in “New Moon” and in “Eclipse.” The actress loved working on the movie and loved playing such an evil character.

“This is the first time I’ve gotten to play the same character in a different film. It was really great. I love playing this character,” the actress tells MoviesOnline when asked about who it was to work on the movie. “It’s a fun character to get to play and being a part of all that is Twilight is such an honor and still kind of surreal for me. I feel so lucky to be a part of it.”

When describing Jane, Fanning states, “She’s obviously not the nicest person but it’s kind of fascinating to be able to play someone that takes pleasure in hurting people, that’s kind of a weird thing to get to do and obviously something I’ve never done before.

Being in such a huge blockbuster movie was just like any other day for Dakota’s friends and family.

“You get the normal questions’, Fanning says about friends asking her about the movie. “But I think that people that are close to me, especially in school, are kind of used to it by now so it’s not such a big deal. They kind of forget that I’m even in the movies. ”
  .
The one thing Fanning treasures about the movie is that it allowed her to once again work with Kristen Stewart. The two starred in “Runaways”, the story of Joan Jett and her band which was shot right after “Eclipse.” The two became close friends while shooting both movies.

“During the summer when we were doing The Runaways we both had in the back of our minds that she would have to go do Eclipse pretty much right away and I came a month or two later just for a week to do my part,” she says when talking about shooting the movie. “…It was so weird just seeing each other in different costumes and being different people because we got so used to seeing each other as Joan and Cherie and me especially seeing her with the short black hair, and she has green eyes in real life and then seeing her with brown eyes and long hair again, it was so weird. Obviously our relationships are very different in The Runaways and Eclipse. So that was kind of fun but it was really, really weird at first.”

Having shot back to back movies, Fanning plans to take a little time off and doesn’t have any immediate plans for a new movie and college may be in her future. In fact the actress recently took the ACT.

“The Twilight Saga: Eclipse” is now playing in theaters.
