How did Blaise Nkufo look against Celtic? The minute Fredy Montero was taken out after the Boss red card it became nearly impossible to rate the first trot out of Sounders FC’s latest designated player. The two were connecting well before then. Blaise looks strong on the ball and like he has a very good sense of where to dish passes with his back to the goal. Was he explosive or dangerous? Not really. What do you think?
When will the Freddie Ljungberg saga end? Is there any doubt left that Ljungberg is ‘out of favor’ with the Sounders? Kasey Keller completely ignored the subject during his guest appearance for ESPN on Sunday’s Celtic match. Instead, Keller spoke of a team growing closer together ‘over the last few matches.’ Gee, that coincides with… So what do you think? Is Freddie ours until November, or beyond? Or, will he be dealt elsewhere this month?
Do you like “Friendlies?” The age-old question: Why play a soccer match when it doesn’t matter who wins? Are you a fan of these international friendlies that by necessity fall in the middle of the MLS season? Nick Green doesn’t seem to be.
Are you a fan of the local? The Premier Development League (PDL) season is approaching the playoffs stage. Have you been out to a match this year? You’ve got one chance left, Puget Sound Soccer Nation…and it should be a great one. July 24, 7 PM, Kitsap Pumas at Tacoma Tide FC in the second leg of the Narrows Bridge Bell. I love that league here, but what about the papers? Should the Times and Tribune be covering the PDL, too?
Did you catch the story behing Jordan Jennings’ sudden arrival as a Sounders FC goalkeeper for a day? I’ve watched Jordan since 2006 when he played with Tacoma Tide FC. ESPN’s announcers made reference to him being a UW product, but actually Jennings’ owes more to Seattle University, where he eventually transfered. How about a Sunday stroll in the park with the Bhoys that suddenly turned into a tour of duty? I think Jennings stepped in quite well. Do you think his cameo will get him any pro offers?
