If you haven’t seen the phenomenal, heart wrenching play “True Love” directed by Beverly Banks then mark your calendars. It is a must see! True Love began as a letter to God many years ago. “Why do those things keep happening to me” says writer and director Beverly Banks. Growing up in the church she couldn’t understand why God would allow her to experience so many painful and unfortunate situations. Beverly’s best friend was depression and often she contemplated suicide. Beverly was molested as a pre teen, raped at 19 and conceived a child from that experience. Life went from hard to unendurable. She tried turning to the church and they called her names and therefore her faith left her with nowhere to turn. Beverly finally cried out to the Lord as a last resort, as it was her upbringing that it is wrong to question God. “True Love” performed by True Love Productions are the results from a weeklong tearful cry to God. This Gospel, Comedy, Drama will make you laugh, cry and sing out loud.
