On Saturday, July 24th join TasteDC on a luxury bus tour of the Virginia Wine Country, and visit three award-winning Virginia vineyards! TasteDC has been producing wine and food events since 1997, and specializes in presenting wine education in a non-intimidating way.
The cost of the tour is $75, and includes lunch. You’ll also need $20 cash to pay for the tastings at the vineyards; Virginia law does not allow it to be included in the cost of the tour. The bus will depart from the Clarendon Metro Station at 10:00 a.m. sharp, and the following wineries will be visited:
Voted Virginia’s Favorite Winery in 2007, Pearmund Cellars is located in the beautiful foothills of eastern Fauquier County, VA. This 7,500 square-foot winery and 25-acre vineyard produces Chardonnay, Viognier, Riesling, Late Harvest Vidal, Merlot, Cabernet Franc, Cabernet Sauvignon, Petit Verdot, Ameritage, and other award-winning Virginia wines.
The Winery at La Grange
Very rich in history and very rich in wine, the new Winery at La Grange opened September 2006 as Prince William County’s only established winery. Their current inventory includes Pinot Gris, Chardonnay, Viognier, Rosé of Merlot, Cuvee Blanc, Norton, Cabernet Franc, Merlot, Meritage, Tannat, Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon and a Port styled wine called Snort.
Barrel Oak Winery
In 2006 Sharon and Brian Roeder moved to the Blue Ridge foothills on the rural side of Northern Virginia. Working closely with their two trusted Golden Retrievers, they enjoy the fun side of life, along with extraordinary wines and views with people certain to become fast friends around a shared picnic on the patio.
A boxed lunch will be provided by Market Salamander of Middleburg, VA and will consist of Hickory Smoked Turkey Breast, Imported Swiss Cheese, Grilled Red Onions & Cole Slaw served on freshly-baked Sourdough Bread; a bag of chips; and a homemade cookie.
Escape your worries this Saturday and let the wine experts with TasteDC answer your wine questions for the day, and come back to civilization more wine educated, nuanced and satiated!
