There are so many ways to get good, quality (and in most cases, name-brand!) clothing post-adoption for your whole family. Regardless of which adoption route you chose to take, saving money is always a good feeling! In Montgomery County, there are some very good options for finding a great deal.
- Campbell Yard Sales is a great local online community (mainly Clarksville and Fort Campbell neighborhoods) where you can both look for deals, and make some deals of your own! If you order one of their window stickers for a very small fee, and upload a picture of it to the site administrator, they give you a FREE 6-month membership to the site (note: you can re-upload the same picture every 6 months, so it will still be free!). On this site, you can browse ads in a multitude of categories other than clothing. You can even post a “WANTED” ad if you’d rather just cut to the chase.
- FreeCycle is a FREE online community where you can find some great items. You are required to post a give-away item first, but once you’ve given away one item you can post all the “WANTED” items you need to. You can sign-up to receive email notifications every time a new ad is posted, or you can get a “digest” once a day with all the ads on it at once. If you get the instant notifications, however, you have a better chance to get the item.
- Goodwill is a great place to “try it before you buy it”. Gone are the days of paying full-price for name brands. It’s also an added bonus that they have clothing separated into size/sex order. Boys or Girls, Women or Men, small to XX-large. Another great feature are the changing rooms. Even for a bargain price, you don’t want to spend money on something that might not fit when you get it home! Clarksville has 2 locations: 1945 Madison St., Clarksville,TN 37043. Phone: (931) 920-5490, and 1592 Fort Campbell Blvd, ,Clarksville,TN 37042; Phone: (931) 645-2310. **BONUS** on the first saturday of each month, everything in the store – yes, EVERYTHING – is half-price!
- Yard sales/garage sales are still a great place to find a deal on clothing; check the ads in the local paper like the Leaf-Chronicle in Clarksville to see when & where the sales will be, and if they list the basic type of clothing you’re looking for (childrens, babies, ladies, etc.). Don’t be afraid to barter for a better price on something if you really feel the price is too high.
