Over 150 teams;
With 2000 plus players and coaches;
Over 20 fields;
Lots of referees, field marshals, organizers and volunteers.
For 31 years the Lakeshore Soccer Club has invited other recreational (house league) soccer clubs to come and participate in this fun filled weekend of soccer happening this weekend, August 21 and August 22, 2010 at fields in Beaconsfield, Kirkland & Baie D’urfe.
The tournament has grown to become the main recreational soccer tournament in all of Quebec.
Entrance is free but be sure to buy some refreshments to support fund raising efforts.
Players and coaches remember to go easy on the referees as they will be out in the sun all day…remember to show up on time, in uniform and without the jewellery (necklaces, rings, bracelets, earrings, leather bands, rubber bands etc.) are strictly forbidden and must be removed. Using tape to cover jewellery is not acceptable. This includes sweatbands, headbands and elastic. For tying the hair in a “pony tail” ONLY, elastic bands are acceptable if they are tightly wrapped around the “pony tail”. No other elastic bands are permitted. Pro-wrap is acceptable to tie hair back – that is the sponge-like material used in taping – because it breaks apart when pulled. This is in conformity with FIFA law 4 and the interpretation of said law by the Canadian Soccer Federation. REMEMBER to bring plenty of liquids and to have FUN.
For a schedule of games at local fields please visit the site at the link below: http://www.lakeshoresoccer.ca/soccerfest/reports/All%20Fields.htm
If you are tracking team results (for parents, coaches and siblings) you can now follow along on Twitter and get division game scores tested right to your phone. Instructions and alternatives to follow via the internet are available at the website, www.LakeshoreSoccer.ca/Soccerfest.
While many teams are local, plenty are coming from across the island and beyond…so be hospitable. Bring sunscreen. Wear a hat. Bring plenty of liquids and light food – players no heavy greasy food between matches….and have FUN.
