This weekend, the 18th to the 21st, the San Juan County Fair is the place to be. The 100 year old fair, located in Friday Harbor, features talented local performers, 4H groups, agricultural shows, a variety of recreational competitions, and of course a delicious BBQ.
While small in size, the festival packs a punch and provides visitors with a real taste of island lifestyle. It has the feeling of an arts festival, the quintessential theme of Friday Harbor. Activities range from pony-rides to learning about honey bees. Come learn how to fillet and grill a fresh salmon, or participate in the first annual blackberry taste-off.
If live music is more your style, don’t miss the bands. Today, Thursday the 19th, both the Henry James Band and the Local Harvest Band take the stage beginning at 7:00 PM.
If you’d prefer to pound some cement, the 32rd annual Friday Harbor 8.8K run takes place Saturday morning and is the perfect way to get acquainted with the island. Check here for details.
So head over to San Juan Island this weekend with the whole family. There will be something for everyone, guaranteed. Check the official website here for specific schedules and events.
