Anniitra MaKafia UtchatiNu Ravenmoon and Reverend Glory Vernon were consecrated on Sunday, August 15 as Priestess Hierophants of the Fellowship of Isis (FOI) and Temple of Isis/Los Angeles (TOI/LA). To be a Hierophant in the FOI means to “show forth” and share your wisdom with those who seek it. These two women have established that they are doing just that in the Pagan community.
Reverend Glory Vernon
Reverend Glory Vernon is a Way-Shower of the Syncretic Craft of the Wise, an active member of Long Beach Woman Spirit and the Circle of Pelagia, as well as a member of “Nature’s Path” a pagan group within the Unitarian/Universalist Church of Long Beach.
Since 1990 she has studied many traditions including: Concordia, Druidic Craft of the Wise (DCW), Faerie Magick, and Dragon Magick. Glory is also an intuitive healer, seer, Reiki practitioner, Certified Hypnotherapist, Healing Drum Facilitator and herbal enthusiast.
Her role as teacher began in 1997 when she began teaching Wicca at the Muse Lodge store in Newport Beach. She has taught on and off since, but has been teaching regularly for the last three years and plans to continue.
She was ordained on April 8, 2001 in the FOI and TOI/LA. She created “The Living Muse” as a tribute to “The Living Planet” coffee shop in Long Beach and its Drum Circles and “The Muse Lodge” and its Goddess circles. And so the Iseum of The Living Muse began in November 2004.
Her scribe in Saturday’s ceremony, Callista Lee, says of Glory, “She clearly relishes the moments when someone she is teaching ‘gets it;’ that ‘ah-ha’ moment when The Goddess ignites another soul. Chills flow from crown to toes in both teacher and student.” Glory refers to her teachings as “Syncretism,” which combines the wisdom and practices of various Pagan and Goddess traditions she has studied.
Anniitra MaKafia UtchatiNu Ravenmoon
Anniitra says, “I want to celebrate the DIVINE Feminine via AUSET, the Goddess of 10,000 names. I want to celebrate the sacred womb dances of our Ancient Mothers, the Goddesses from whence they came. I want to celebrate the Power Goddess in all of us. I want to celebrate our Ancestors! Speak Their Names, for they still live!”
In 1991 Anniitra dedicated herself to the Goddess. By 2001 she had earned her student teacher cord with Hermetic Order of Occult Knowledge & Sciences (HOOKS) and studied with Druidic Craft of the Wise of America (DCWA). Her path led her to become a “A Warrior Goddess in the Way of Justice and Truth.”
In 1998 she joined the Fellowship of Isis and in 2003 the Circle of Pelagia. It wasn’t until 2004 that she was ordained as a Priestess of the FOI. In 2008 she founded the Iseum of the Nubian Moon. She says it’s “a house of gathering and learning about the Divine Feminine/Ancient Mothers where she facilitates Goddess Tea and Inspirations, where different thea/ology presenters are hosted every two months.”
Anniitra received the F.E.A.S.T. Sharyn DiSanza Award for Equality and Justice through Artistic Expression in 2005. Also in 2005 she joined the Magdalene Center and Women’s Heritage Project founded by Jayne DeMente. She and Jayne co-host the Internet radio program Creatrix Media Live. In addition, she is a certified graduate, participant, sponsor and presenter for Women’s Heritage Project.
Not only a proficient belly dancer, she also teaches it. Anniitra calls her unique style of teaching belly dancing “the Ravens Round The Clock.” She says “this method combines the dance forms of American Cabaret, North African/Egyptian, and Ravenesque Afro-Ethnotics.” She has danced this art form since 1975 and has taught it since 1980.
Recently, Anniitra has taken the next step on her spiritual path. She is now training with the Kindred Of ShiEndra, the source of her new name. MaKafia UtchatiNu means:”That which shines brighter than the stars and is dark as night. Serpent Mother of the Northeast born of the Nu.”
