I’ve experienced Tamo before, but this summer, the new terrace a The Seaport Hotel was calling for me to re-visit. So I did. And my husband and I are so glad we did.
The Seaport’s new outdoor Tamo Terrace is the place to go for a bit to eat, some cocktails and people watching.
But wait, there’s more.
Because every party ends up with guests lingering in the kitchen, why not plan it that way from the start, which is why The Seaport Hotel & Seaport World Trade Center has launched its new interactive Action Kitchen.
“With the growing popularity of ‘chef smackdowns’ and cooking shows, we have designed this interactive culinary concept to bring the warmth, and inviting sights and smells of the kitchen into this fabulous space and make it a participatory cooking and dining experience for clients,” said Seaport Hotel Vice President & General Manager, Jim Carmody. “We believe this is a distinctive venue, unlike any other in the city, for social gatherings and team building events,” said Carmody.
The 2,000 square foot Action Kitchen includes a state-of-the-art demonstration kitchen with four distinct stations, three hot tops, one of which is a Molteni Podium IV range – one of only a few in New England. Action Kitchen also features two Wolfe cook tops, Sub-Zero refrigerators, a vegetable washing station and a selection of hundreds of bottles of wine. The dining room features a harvest table that can accommodate intimate parties or comfortably seat up to 24 guests and ends with a beautiful fireplace that extends the width of the dining area. An adjacent conference room seats 16 and features a selection hundreds of cookbooks from around the world. The facility features a rear flat screen video wall and live feed with recording capabilities of all that is happening, or it can play a video or a televised event of the guests choosing.
Seaport’s award-winning culinary team of Chef Rachel Klein and Executive Chef Richard Rayment will work with guests of the Action Kitchen so that the menu and ingredients mesh with their event and taste. Seaport is committed to being ‘green’ and will work with guests to keep the experience a celebration of the occasion and of fresh local ingredients.
The kitchen can accommodate varying experiences, from multi-course meals to an evening of hors d’oeuvres – including “Collaborative Cuisine” and “Creative Cookoff” – that you and your group will enjoy even if you have no cooking experience at all.
– Collaborative Cuisine: The emphasis is on the delicious results of teamwork. Recipe cards will be provided, based on the menu created in advance. Each team works closely with a chef, who guides and assists as needed.
– Creative Cookoff. Perfect for groups with a slightly more competitive bent, this scenario leaves the recipe cards at the door. Each team is given a market basket full of identical ingredients and has to plan and prepare its own dishes–with chef guides by your side for expert advice. Some groups make the event even more fun with special awards for creativity, flavor, taste and more.
The Action Kitchen is perfect for corporate team building events, a reward package for valued employees, rehearsal dinners to bring both sides of the family together, for ’girls night out’ or to watch the ‘big game’ on the flat screen while working with the chef to create great appetizers and a hearty dinner that everyone in the crowd will love.
The Action Kitchen experience is a culinary adventure that will be a joy to prepare and a pleasure to share. The chefs will also suggest wine selections to accompany each individually created menu.
