As has been the case for the past two seasons here at the page, I will be taking an in-depth look at each “Survivor: Nicaragua” contestant leading up to the season premiere on September 15.

Name: Jane Bright
Occupation: Dog Trainer
Residence: Jackson Springs, North Carolina
Strengths: When you are one of the older castaways on a season, you just have to love what you’re doing. Jane is a longtime fan of the show, she’s tough, and she has a great deal of experience outdoors. She is also showing that she can persevere, having lost her husband in April. She seems to also be a fairly likable person, someone who could bond well with the rest of the tribe.
Weakness: The same resilience I mention as a strength could also end up crippling Jane’s game in the long run. With her husband’s passing so recent, will she be emotionally ready for this game? She also has to keep some of her other emotions in check, just so that she does not come across as bossy or obnoxious to someone at any given time.
Past ‘Survivor’ Comparison: Jane looks at Tina Wesson as an inspiration for this game, since she wasn’t afraid to get her hands dirty and truly know how to survive. There are some similarities there, but you also have to look at Tina from “Exile Island”. Both of them have experience outdoors, and both of them used “Survivor” to try and get over family tragedies. Unfortunately, both Tinas have finished in last place at some point or another.
Early prediction: Tina’s incredibly likable, and it would be a thrill if she is to make it far on this show. However, I just don’t see it happening. With this season being filmed only a matter of two-plus months after her husband’s death, the emotions would be hard for anyone to overcome. She also may be singled out even on the older tribe as the oldest woman. We are probably looking at an early boot here, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if she was the first one out.
No matter what, the casting for this season seems spot-on, since the twist has enabled us to see more longtime fans of the game.
