My Supernatural Tweet Grenade from July 4, 2010 – I have pieced it together below and sort of turned it into an impromptu article on my disdain of the current tsunami of fan fighting that is happening that actually seems worse than it has been in the past which has been bad but lately … just tired of it and a bit befuddled really.
Okay here is the pieced together and slightly edited Tweet Grenade I tweeted:
I am sort of frustrated about reading through the Zap2it article comments for the Jensen directing piece.
Maybe, I’m old school and think a true fan of a show can be unhappy with some story arcs but to loathe a main character or whine about who gets storylines or screen time is ticking me off!
This Sam/Dean fight has been going on since Season 1 and last time I checked there wouldn’t be an SPN without the brothers. I like both the brothers and yeah sometimes an episode or arc are more heavy one character more than another but it always comes back to family. I climbed into the Impala with the Winchester boys in Sept. 2005 and I admit I haven’t loved every arc or plot device but when it all boils back down to why I kept watching after that pilot episode, it wasn’t the back story or the car (although I have Impala love :-) but the two actors portraying such believable brothers on screen.
It was Sam and Dean that kept me watching. It has been their journey that kept me riding along with them since 2005 and I’m so tired of all the complaints about this episode 4 of the new Season 6 that Jensen is directing because it has been turned into some twisted rant about screen time and characters once again. The perpetual will Sam be in it? Is it all Bobby? What about Dean? Look a true fan can be upset with the way things go and what the writers do to the characters but to say you can’t stand one character over another and wish they weren’t on the show especially when it comes to the Sam or Dean haters.
Ah, hello? There would never have been a show without both characters. Geez, I haven’t been this fired up in a while but it has been a long time coming, I guess as this eternal complaint debate has been going on among supposed fans since the show aired. Eric Kripke, the show’s creator, was right you can’t please them all and someone is always going to complain. A true fan can dislike many aspects of the show on occasion but in the end you embrace the show, the characters and the show’s flaws.
The Winchesters and their journey have emotionally bound themselves to true fans and in the end just like Sam and Dean did at the end of Season 5 we decide to chose family and in this case our TV Winchester family. I’m in this until the series finale’s screen fades to black and I say goodbye to the brothers I’ve come to love but until that day I’ll accept the show and its flaws.
Oh, and before I end this tweet grenade … Happy directing Jensen, I’m glad you’re behind the camera as I know its something you have had interest in since Season 1. Kudos to you! Also, hear you may get another episode in Season 6, if that happens, congratulations! And, to quote the late Kim Manners … “Kick it in the ass” Jensen … you’ll do a great job! I’m looking forward to Season 6 and its Sept. 24 return day.
