June gloom came and decided to stay this summer. Many San Diegans’ have been wondering if summer would ever find itself in southern California. If the weather does what it is supposed to, it seems we may get our summer after all.
Tourists may have been disappointed, San Diego may be seeing more of their Arizona and Nevada neighbors stopping by because of the weather change. Restaurant and hotel owners need to put their best step forward.
Get Their Attention
With sites like Groupon and Yelp, it is getting harder to get the attention you deserve. With that said, get yourself on these sites, and make sure people are giving you rave reviews. According to Groupon, “With an unparalleled ability to drive hundreds — even thousands — of customers through your door, it’s no wonder that 95% of our surveyed business partners want to be featured on Groupon again.”
The Social Media Optimization blog is reporting that the hotel industry is heading the way in social media and, “nearly 70% of US hoteliers responding to the April 2010 study reported online was the marketing channel with the greatest return on investment, and the majority are using a variety of online channels to reach potential customers, including 60% who have implemented a social media marketing strategy.”
Engaging in social media is necessary for the hospitality industry, if you want to stay ahead of the curve. It’s all about word of mouth, and that is exactly what these sites can do for your hotel or restaurant.
Software That Works
Business pos systems are the hub of any good restaurant or hotel. Without these systems in place, servers orders could get lost in the kitchen, or your front desk staff wouldn’t be able to process check-ins as fast. If you had portable pos systems, would that help you streamline your efforts?
There are many new technologies popping up when it comes to point of sale systems, and mobile seems to be the latest trending. Dinerware, Inc., a leading developer of restaurant POS (point of sale) software, has announced its certification of SpeedMenu, a mobile menuing, ordering and payment service that enables guests to add, close and pay out their tabs via their Internet-enabled mobile devices.
If you haven’t already, you may need a few extra hands during the rest of the summer months. The initial cost may be more than you expect, but once you see the volume rise within a few days, you should see a great ROI on seasonal help.
