Downtown Dallas shined as women from all over the world attended the EWomen’s International Conference ( http://www.ewomennetworkconference.com/) this weekend at the Hyatt Downtown. The conference brought together aspiring and inspiring entrepreneurs from all around the globe to share thoughts, motivate and support one another down the path to successful business in 2010.
Celebrating 10 years, the E Women’s Network put on an amazing conference with headline speakers with the right tools, techniques and strategies to propel women business owners to unleash their full potential over the next year.
Sandra and Kym Yancey, founders of EWomen’s Network’s purpose is to inspire women to be fearless and to achieve lasting success in life and finances through entrepreneurship.
The conference began with Connie Podesta who’s keynote presentation was spot on about how people, expectations and our own behavior can get in the way of our destiny. By applying shapes (circles, squares, squiggly and triangle) to our ingrained personality traits, Connie’s presentation “Life Would be Easy if it Weren’t for Other People” humorously and intelligently showed the power our tendencies and personalities affect the way we interact with others. Becoming aware of how we behave and our natural tendencies will allow us to get to know ourselves and use our traits to our advantage while searching for ways to play on our own inherent strength. Connie shared her own experience as a teenager trying to be great at everything. Struggling with math actually led her to the opportunity that turned her in to the speaker, comedian and powerhouse motivational speaker she is today! After being reprimanded by her teacher for her math grade, the door to debate and acting was opened by another teacher at her school. She made it through math that year and thrived in debate and acting. Connie’s public speaking and acting skills led her to a scholarship to college!
Recognizing and focusing on our strengths is what will transform our lives. Not all of us are here to be bankers or doctors. Each of us has a unique set of skills that make us who we are. We must search for what we are good at and work towards greatness. In doing so, we will turn our strengths into fulfilling vocations where we make a difference during our short time here on earth.
Are you spending your days in a job that does not fit? Does your job allow you to use your strengths the majority of the time? If not, it is time to take action. Visit Connie’s website and spend a few minutes on taking her “Shapes Assessment” to see what motivates you. (http://www.conniepodesta.com/shapes)
