If you own a pet you understand that most people would do anything for that pet. Many people look for handmade goods for their animals. Some even bake them their own cookies. Would you sew him/her a new collar, a new bed or a new toy? Why not try some of these projects for your pet or any other pet lovers you know. Pet products are increasing in popularity at some of the fairs I have been to recently This article is just about dog projects, come back again to find other animals.
Most dogs wear a collar some time if not at all times. The Doggie Stylish Blog has some great collar links. Some are a little more out there than others. Here are some other great collar patterns:
- Diamond Dog Necklaces: A true dazzler
- Recycled Collar: Teach an old collar new tricks
- Very Cute Collar: Sew a Fashion Statement for your Dog!
- Matchy Matchy: “Maybe I should make a collar for Sparky to match my skirt today.”
The collars are cute but what about a leash to match or to show of your pets “other” side. Bernina has a great tutorial for a leash and key wristlet. Here are more leash as well as harness patterns:
- Adjustable Leash and Collar set
- Strappy Leash
- Small Dog Harness
- Custom Harness
Now onto the clothing, I never knew a dog could have a full wardrobe and then some. There are more patterns and tutorials out there than I care to publish (sorry). They all come down to a few options: sweater, coats and full suits. Here are a few highlights for you:
- Fleece Coat
- Weather Resistant Coat
- Recycled Dog Sweater
- Basic Sweater
- Dog Suit
Dogs may even need foot covering on those cold or wet days. These are some neat projects I found:
- Uberpest’s Journal
Now onto the funniest stuff of all, dog costumes. There are some wild and crazy ideas out there I am going to give you sites to go to instead if specific projects. Fuzzy Pet has some fun ideas, as does Fancy Dress Ideas for Dogs | Halloween Costumes from Squidoo, scroll all the way to the bottom for some links. Pet bed and toys are going to get their own article as are cats, rodents/small animals, and birds.
