San Francisco, California, is one of the most popular tourist destinations in the United States. With its unique location and many attractions, visitors can expect to spend a bundle. One way to cut costs is to buy a city card.
City cards offer discounts and admission for attractions and transportation. They can make for a huge savings but only if you plan to take advantage of most, if not all, of the offered options.
San Francisco has two city cards that offer great value for your money. They aren’t identical and you should take a look at both before choosing one.

This pass will give you admission to five of the city’s top attractions:
- The California Academy of Sciences
- The Aquarium of the Bay
- A one hour narrated tour aboard the Blue & Gold Fleet Bay Cruise
- The San Francisco Museum of Modern Art
- The Exploratorium, a hands-on museum, or the de Young Museum and Legion of Honor, which must be visited on the same day
This pass also entitles you to 7 days of unlimited rides on San Francisco’s famous cable cars and transportation on Muni, the city’s public transportation.
The pass is good for 9 days. The cost for an adult pass is $64 (actual combined worth $120.90) and a child pass is $39 (actual combined cost $74.95). This is an excellent value if the above attractions are part of your itinerary.
