We do have freedom of speech in this great country of ours. I join all patriots in defending our God-given rights.
You have probably heard the saying “Your right to swing your fist ends where my nose starts.” So goes for speech. As long as it doesn’t commit sins such as slander and murder by my book (the Bible) it is all right by me.
The Bible is more strict that our courts, as just wishing someone dead or threatening them with death is the same thing as actually committing the physical act.
Well, it looks like our courts may be trying to catch up to the Bible. A jury convicted a pro-gun blogger of threatening to murder the federal judges for their 2009 decision on banning guns in Chicago.
Hal Turner, an internet radio personality and blogger went through several trials defending his statements as protected under the First Amendment. He faces up to 10 years in prison and a $250,000 fine.
The United States Attorney Patrick J. Fitzgerald announced the conviction and stated:
Turner was arrested and charged in June 2009 for writing Internet postings that month that proclaimed “outrage” over a handgun decision by Chief Judge Frank Easterbrook and Judges Richard Posner and William Bauer, of the Chicago-based 7th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals, stating, among other things: “Let me be the first to say this plainly: These Judges deserve to be killed.” The postings included photographs, phone numbers, work address and room numbers of these judges, along with a photo of the building in which they work and a map of its location.
Turner was charged with threatening to assault and murder three federal judges with intent to retaliate against them for performing official duties. All three judges testified at the trial on Wednesday.
Now the courts need to go after anti-gun activists as well. Since this is about the Chicago gun control laws overturned recently by the Supreme Court of the United States, let’s start by goin’ to Chicago.
Reverend Michael Pfleger stood outside of a gun shop owned by John Riggio and said “…John Riggio. We’re going to find you and snuff you out.” Rev. Pfleger said they were going to track down and murder Mr. Riggio. The priest also had a large excited crowd that cheered when he made the threat.
God makes no distinction whether or not the person proclaiming murder is a priest or a blogger. He doesn’t differentiate between right, center or left politics. He just expects all of us to follow His commandments and will punish sinners alike if they do not repent and sin no more.
