Actress Betty White, famous for her role in TV’s ‘Golden Girls’, posed for a 12 month calendar with animals and male models. The calendar will be released by Workman Publishing, and will retail for $12.99 each. All proceeds of the calendar sales will go towards the Morris Animal Foundation.
Some of the photographs in the 2011 calendar are of Ms White ‘lounging pool-side with suntanned men in swim trunks to archival photos of the “Golden Girl” in her younger days’, according to The Daily Tell.
Ms White is a trustee of the Morris Animal Foundation, which is a veterinary research organization in Denver, Colorado, that treats, cures and even, protects animals from around the world. Founded in 1948 by veterinarian Dr. Mark L. Morris, Sr, who effectively treated Buddy, a seeing-eye dog, for kidney disease with a special dog food that Dr. Morris later patented to become Hill’s Pet Nutrition Prescription Diet.
Using the royalties from the sales of the dog food, Dr. Morris and his wife started their nonprofit organization, the Morris Animal Foundation.
During its 60 years, the foundation has helped to fund over 1,600 studies and research projects, some of which have produced advancements in animal diagnostics, treatment and medicine.
A Morris Animal Foundation spokesman says of the 88 year old Ms White, “Betty is classy, earthly and unassuming. She’s also got a great sense of humor about herself – and that’s our idea of a centerfold!”
Although you may not be able to find the calendar at the local PetSmart in Sugarhouse, you can purchase a few varieties of Hill’s Pet Nutrition Prescription Diet dog and cat food through your local veterinary clinic.
