Pat Gericke holds a BFA degree in Environmental Design from the Parsons School of Design and is an accomplished interior designer with over twenty years of experience.
Today as always, we report on the best in design practices and timeless solutions. Among her many projects for residential, corporate and health care facilities, Pat is an expert in supplying great solutions.
We will highlight some examples of great space planning. Above, see how she makes the very best use of a small bedroom space. Pat’s spaces function well over time because of her thoughtful consideration of multi uses and classic styles in her design work.
Pat Gericke LLC has extensive, hands-on training in design, project management, cost control, and construction, and takes on projects from the design concept to construction, color and furnishings selection, to supervising their installation.
For this room above, Pat created a multi purpose room which features a banquet, TV area, desk area, storage and library shelves, as well as a fully functional custom wall -bed design.

As a seasoned interior designer, Pat understands each client’s needs. ” I listen and then focus on what are the real criteria, what needs to be done.”
Custom made built- ins make a huge difference in determining the durability and usefulness of each space.
In the picture on the right, Pat specified a custom made sofa. Along the opposite wall, the banquet with storage below were built- in. In addition, there is a wall shelf behind the sofa to replace a coffee table for which the small area could not accommodate. The area behind the sofa is also used for smaller books.
Pat’s passion for painting and travel has given her special insight into diverse cultures and conceptual thinking which have brought innovation and sophistication to all her projects.
A functional space is timeless, and no one can have too much storage.
On the left, we see the detail of the TV niche with space for paperback books above. There is storage for receivers and CD’s, plus a desk area beyond with even more multi functional storage.
This type of planning requires time, but also adds lasting value to a room.
Pat reports “I recently completed a wall of built ins for a dining room that add a library function to that space. We borrowed an unused wing chair and updated it with new fabric, and it now works well in the new ‘ reading nook.’ I also re -centered the room so that the dining table itself is not visible from the living room, which gives the space a more defined function as well”.
Learning from her days sailing, she finds uses for every inch of space. Since Pat’s clients are in the greater New York City area, this is an important quality to have. A multi-functional space is timeless since we can never have too much storage. A room that works well simply pays for itself. With a designers’ eye, small spaces can add so much more real living space, instead of remaining ‘eyesore’ rooms, over stuffed with ill fitting odds and ends.
Pat’s corporate clients also benefit from her great attention to details and professional oversight. Pat Gericke Associates LLC has a long series of commercial clients including spaces for CBS/Fox Video, and numerous law and medical offices around New York.
Meeting with Pat in midtown Manhattan, it was a pleasure to share our construction and design experiences. She is a designer who is well versed and dedicated to giving her clients all the best. In her own words, Pat says, “There is no secret to design. It is not about buying furniture or even creating a ‘look’. It is about reflecting your personality and how you live. At Pat Gericke & Associates, I design for you, not me.”
