Here’s a look at the Ole Miss Rebels football team entering 2010 SEC Football Media Days (July 21 – 23) at The Wynfrey Hotel in the Birmingham, Alabama suburb, Hoover.
Ole Miss is team 12 of 12 in the SEC Examiner page feature series of one SEC team a day, in the order they are scheduled to meet with the media in Birmingham.
You will find some key questions about the team that we’ll be looking for answers on at SEC Football Media Days from players and coaches.
We’ve included the 2010 season schedule, the schedule of team previews on the SEC Examiner page and the session schedule for all the teams at this year’s SEC Football Media Days.
2009 – 9-4 (4-4) Won the Cotton Bowl over Oklahoma State 21-7
Head Coach: Houston Nutt (18-8) – 2 seasons
Ole Miss’ Pre-Media Days Questions
-Is this team more relaxed entering the season with no preseason hype or Heisman talk?
-A new quarterback, replacing lots of starters, a fairly young team, little expectations, etc; under Houston Nutt as head coach is that a perfect recipe for success rather than last year’s pre-season hype?
-What is sophomore QB Nathan Stanley all about?
-Does redshirt freshman QB Raymond Cotton or JC transfer QB Randall Mackey have a legit chance to win the job in fall camp?
-How is the young offensive line developing?
-If Dexter McCluster wasn’t used frequently enough, is there any reason to believe that any of the backs in this group will be go-to every down backs?
-Will that terrific and deep d-line be enough to keep the Rebels in a lot of ballgames?
-Is there a young, stud LB that could break on the scene after returning senior starting linebackers Jonathan Cornell and Allen Walker?
-Which players drew rave reviews from spring practice?
-Are they confident that they can find a way to drastically improve the turnover ratio (102nd in 2009?)
-Which freshmen are most likely to make an impact this season?
-If Ole Miss comes out of back-to-back October road games with Alabama and Arkansas 0-2, how will they respond vs. Auburn the following week and the rest of the way?
