Why did Scotland release the Lockerbie bomber ? It was proven that he killed with deliberate and cruel premeditation . He murdered 270 people from many different countries all around the world . These vacations, business travels and family visits ended in sudden and terrifying death. These people were , casually drinking coffee and chatting with each other, when their shelter, their transportation, the plane that sat inside, exploded into black rubble..
It was a wake up call to the world. A new savage and mind -set had been let loose upon the entire planet. I personally knew a psychologist who went to Scotland as an ambassador of America to try to deal with the unprecedented outpouring of fury and grief by the citizens of Scotland . He was a colleague and a close friend. He was also a former business partner so I knew the powerful change in him when he returned from that mission of mercy.
The relatives of the passengers had gathered in numb confusion, trying to reconciles an ordinary vacation trip or a business meeting with the stunning news in the phone calls that they received. No one really knew what to do. It was a new world.
My colleague was never quite the same after that somber undertaking. He had seen first hand what terror does to an entire people. The telling comment that he made was “I will never do that again, I cannot”.
Yet the man who killed those 270 innocents , although tried, convicted in a court of law and jailed, was set free by the government of Scotland . This was a decision that was out of the hands of the countrymen of those who suffered. Their rage sparked again the same grief and horror that they had already lived through on the day of the crash the day of the funeral, the days of the trial.
Why did Scotland release this proven terrorist-murder ? .
Breaking news has it tied to oil contracts, BP and corruption at the highest levels . In short, once again wealth trumps every shred of human decency. That is what it looks like at this point.
Andrew Fraser the Scottish Prisoner Service Director was the man who wrote the report that ended in this release . Why? What possible reason could Scotland have for one of the most unexplainable decisions ever made.?
The US Senate has asked those questions. Their letter of demand for further information on the release was give the reply that the Scottish government would respond “in due course”. At this moment I am not quite as proud of my Scottish heritage.
270 dead. Multiply that number by at least 100 of the very closest , dear friends and family per person whose lives were forever changed by that terrorist action. Then multiply that by those who learned of this horror and had it touch their own life. Then spread that number over the entire world as we all had the foundations of civilized society ripped away in the time it takes for detonation.
Think how it effected every traveler who has flown since that now infamous flight . Now think about the Lockerbie bomber being feted by his admirers as he returned home. Think of him as free as you are . Admired by his own family!
This is “Justice “’ in world that “sees both sides” of a question and has no demarcation between strict right and strict wrong.
This is the world that tries “compassion” rather than teaching the principle that there actually is a right and a wrong. This is a world that says terrorist are patriots to their own people. This is a world that says “you must understand their history, trauma, poverty, childhood” .
This is the world created by absolutely and totally denying that
light and dark,
right and wrong,
good and evil ,
blessing and cursing
peace and war
exist as polar opposites . Do you want to live in that world?
This story might just have a chance of waking us up for once and for all.
