Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is on the mend from his third hand surgery. Barrett sustained severe injuries on his hand after he stepped in to help a woman from an attacker last year while leaving the state fair. Barrett also had a broken tooth and cuts to his face. His latest surgery was to help with mobility in his right hand, which he says he “may never recover full use of” or even have the ability to “make a complete fist,” according to TMJ4.
Mayor Barrett May Never Have Full Use of His Hand
Barrett begins therapy on his hand Tuesday, which includes a machine to try and strengthen the tendons. The machine looks like a futuristic claw, but aids in giving the hand a “constant passive movement,” according to WISN. He may also need a knuckle implant at some point.
