Mad Men Season 4 has jumped ahead in time to almost a total new story line. Here is my prediction of what we will see from Don and Betty, the ex’s.
Betty Draper, who is now Betty Francis after marrying Henry, is not going to have a smooth second marriage. The writing is already on the wall. She doesn’t love Henry, he is just a replacement for her Daddy. She probably doesn’t realize this, but it couldn’t be clearer.
Henry will eventually end up leaving Betty, or at best have an affair while the two are still married. He jumped into this too quick and is now surrounded with Betty and her baggage from her first marriage. She and the kids will prove too much for him.
Betty is still trying to punish Don, as evident on her taking her time about moving out of the house. In the mean time Don is footing all the bills for her new husband and her to live in the house that he owns.
It won’t be long before Betty realizes she still loves Don, and by then he will be in a relationship and will tell her- “too bad”. The scene with Don and a prostitute who slaps him upon his request, as some S&M type ritual, is significant to the story line later on down the line.
It is my guess during a heated argument Betty will slap Don and they will have passionate sex due to the slap. Probably at her house while Henry is at work. Don will roll around in bed with her and then treat her like the rest of the women he use to bed down.
Betty will be on the other side of the coin for a change and not like it. She has always wanted the passion she imagined Don was sharing with the other women in his life. I bet she will get it, but then will drop her like a hot potato once done. The grass is always greener!
Little Sally Draper is the victim in all this and she is going to be a kid to watch, is my guess. I see a deep rooted problem starting to surface soon, maybe she will do some type of sabotaging regarding something in her mother’s life. Betty is another “Mommy Dearest” and she will pay for it as Sally gets older.
The amount of time that elapsed since the last season was a surprise for one Connecticut resident who said “she felt as if she must of missed some episodes somewhere along the line”. “Betty married, the new agency, and Don Draper looking like a man who has been hit hard with life all came suddenly. It was good to see the old Don Draper come back towards the end of the premiere episode”
