Serra Ascendant is one of several new white Magic: the Gathering cards in this year’s 2011 Core Set M11. Several other recent white spoilers from the Magic: the Gathering 2011 Core Set include War Priest of Thune, Vengeful Archon, Angelic Arbiter, Squadron Hawk, Mighty Leap, Sun Titan, Tireless Missionaries, and Assault Griffin.
Serra Ascendant – W
Creature – Human Monk (Rare)
Lifelink (Damage dealt by this creature also causes you to gain that much life.)
As Long as you have 30 or more life, Serra Ascendant gets +5/+5 and has flying.
M11’s Serra Ascendant is amazing in Elder Dragon Highlander and in Archenemy, where players begin the game with 40 life.
Outside of variant multiplayer Magic: the Gathering formats, Ajani’s Pridemate and Ajanai’s Mantra are natural fits for any deck that is seeking to take advantage of M11’s Serra Ascendant. Just be sure to run a War Priest of Thune or two in case an opponent has Leyline of Punishment.
Magic: the Gathering players around Massachusetts can play with Serra Ascendant when the 2011 Core Set is released. M11 will have 248 cards and there will be a M11 Boston Regional Prerelease on July 10 , 2010. The M11 Release Date is July 16, 2010, M11 Launch Parties are July 16-18, 2010, and the M11 Game Day is August 14, 2010.
