Three local bands will perform live at the Mesa Theater on Friday August 20, 2010. Headlining the concert is Kevin Decker and Hail the Sound. Decker patterns his band after the business model of Trent Reznor and Nine Inch Nails. Reznor prepares and records as a one man band, writing original music and laying the tracks for all the instruments alone. Then, when he takes to the road and does live shows, Trent Reznor hand picks the live members of Nine Inch Nails to reflect the sound he has in mind for each particular tour.
Likewise, Decker has hand picked three accomplished local rock musicians to provide live guitar, bass and drum licks for Friday’s show. This season’s hand picked musicians for Hail the Sound are: drummer David McManus; bass and keyboards: Chase Martinez; with Shawn Langley on guitar. All three of these guys played the Mesa earlier this summer, appearing as Summer Soundtrack. Shawn Langley has played guitar for a number of years, performing with Chamberlynn, Hey Heidi Rae, and others.
Friday night at the Mesa bodes well to be a local all-star line-up of Grand Junction talent. Shea Bramer, who represented Western Colorado at the recent Austin Texas auditions for American Idol, will perform his popular covers and original songs. Bramer, who performs solo at Naggy MaGee’s each Thursday night, will be backed by the Shea Bramer Band for this concert.
Opening the concert at 8:00 P.M. is My Heart is Your Anchor, fronted by Larren Oliver. According to the band’s website: “Our group wanted to incorporate all our favorite styles of music and have it all tie into something that could be enjoyed by all ages. We have created music that moves the heart and touches the soul.”
Friday night’s performance, August 20, 2010, is being promoted by all three bands as an all-ages concert. If you’re young enough-or old enough- to stay up late; don’t miss Friday, August 20, 2010 at the Mesa Theater in Grand Junction. Doors open at 8:00 P.M. My Heart is Your Anchor opens at 9:00.
