Finding a place to buy vitamins and nutritional supplements isn’t difficult. Sometimes it seems like there are as many supplement stores as there are Starbucks. GNC has a dozen stores in Lee County alone. You can buy many supplements at Target or Wal-Mart. Shopping comes down to selection, price and, possibly most importantly, knowledge. Finding expert advice is the tricky part. The Wal-Mart employee is certainly well intentioned, but is the guy who was just stocking the shelves o the cookie aisle the best source of advice on protein supplements?
Shopping just got easier in Cape Coral. Just Add Muscle has had a successful sports nutrition store at 1830 Del Prado Blvd South (click here for map) for some time now. Recently, owner Rene Gonzalez opened a second location, Just Add Muscle II, located at 900 SW Pine Island Road Suite 108 (click here for map) in the Cape. Both stores stock products from most major companies.
What separates Just Add Muscle from the rest of the pack is the expert knowledge of the staff. They are athletes themselves and they understand your needs and can offer first hand advice on how to fulfill those needs. For example, Gonzalez is a competitive bodybuilder who has used many of the products himself while training. Questions like “how does it taste” or “does it mix easily” get answered by someone who has actually mixed it or tasted it, not by someone who read the manufacturers advertisement.
While Just Add Muscle is able to meet the needs of most any customer from someone just looking to lose weight to the serious competitor, bodybuilding and fitness is their first love. Rather than just a store that sells supplements, they are more of a pro shop, stocking specialty items like posing suits as well as general supplements. Again, the experience and first hand knowledge about the products become a benefit that you don’t get charged for, but certainly has value.
Aside from the stores, Just Add Muscle runs an internet store that keeps manager Judy Rogers busy most of the day. The online store can have promotions or sales that aren’t available in the store and vice versa, so it’s a good idea to both check the website and visit the store. The website also hosts a discussion forum that can provide a lot of information. Members share what does or does not work for them about training or supplementation, share tips or inspiration and just discuss fitness topics in general.
Just Add Muscle II is already open for business, but their grand opening is set for Saturday, September 18, 2010. There will be manufacturer’s representatives on-hand to give demonstrations and giving out samples of their products. You’ll get the opportunity to see some of the new products on the market and get some expert advice. Also expect to see some fitness models and competitors at the event.
