Could former “Jon and Kate Plus 8” star Kate Gosselin be trying to start a family band? In what is one of the more unusual stories I’ve heard in quite some time, Rob Shuter of PopEater is reporting that the reality TV mom is looking to make a Christmas album of music featuring herself singing with her famous eight kids.
A source from a record company had this to say to Shuter:
“Kate is pitching a CD of holiday songs sung by herself and all her children … She sees herself as a modern day Maria from ‘The Sound of Music,’ except this time the family singers won’t be the Von Trapp family, they would be the Gosselins.
“Don’t be fooled. Kate sees herself as a brand. She knows her fifteen minutes are not going to last forever and wants to make the most of it. After all, it’s Kate that’s putting the food on the table for all those children.”
As silly as this report may sound, the chances of this being a success may not as low as you may initially think. Holiday albums tend to be big sellers, and people (especially in the older age brackets) tend to gravitate more towards traditional carols. Kids also carry the “cute” factor.
Of course, there’s one major question left to be asked — can Kate Gosselin actually sing? If she ends up auto-tuning “Jingle Bells”, this could be a classic for all of the wrong reasons.
