On Sunday, July 11 between 2:00 p.m. and 4:00 p.m., Gregg Hurwitz will be at Mysterious Galaxy bookstore for a book signing of his latest thriller, They’re Watching. Hurwitz is a critically acclaimed, internationally bestselling author of several novels including The Crime Writer and Trust No One. His books have been nominated for numerous awards, shortlisted for best novel of the year by International Thriller Writers, nominated for CWA’s Ian Fleming Steel Dagger, chosen as feature selections for all four major literary book clubs, honored as Book Sense Picks, and translated into seventeen languages.
When asked which book he considers his favorite, Hurwitz said, “They’re Watching is far and away my favorite. It’s my tenth book, and I think it took me nine books to get here and write this one. It’s the kind of story I loved most growing up. This for me is in the Hitchcock roundhouse, sort of my homage to Rear Window and those great tales of suspicion and paranoia. Where a character is stuck playing a starring role in a dangerous intrigue and they themselves are forced to piece together the very story that they’re trying to survive. And it’s also the story of a couple who are very much in love still, but who find their marriage on the rocks. And they’re trying to find their way back to each other under incredible pressure.”

Hurwitz goes to extensive lengths to research his books. He says he’s “done a lot of odd (and dumb) things in the name of research, whether sneaking onto demolition ranges with Navy SEALs to blow up cars, swimming with sharks in the Galapagos, or going undercover into mind control cults.”
So what research did he do for a thriller that involves surveillance and invasion of privacy? He said, “The funny thing about They’re Watching is — all the research I did for it I can’t talk about without giving away key plot elements! I suppose the one thing I can say that won’t give anything away is that I really dug into cutting-edge surveillance technology, since I really wanted to show the extent to which Patrick’s (and Ariana’s) life is invaded.”
Hurwitz’ appearance at Mysterious Galaxy Bookstore is bound to draw crowds. Hurwitz has fans of his work on the screen as well as in print. He writes screenplays and comics, and is currently a writer-producer on ABC’s “V.” Other books by Hurwitz include The Tower, Minutes to Burn, Do No Harm, The Kill Clause, The Program, Troubleshooter, Last Shot, The Crime Writer, Trust No One,
