From their humble beginnings in 1993, to their incredible, state of the art facility opening on July 9, the Florida Humane Society has continued to care for the unwanted with love and compassion.
Over the years they have saved thousands of cats, dogs, and other companion animals from being euthanized.
In 2004 Florida Humane found themselves “homeless”, when the owner of their shelter sold the property and tore down the building. A network of foster families came to the rescue.
Word was circulated that they were looking for a new home. Attorneys for Lucille Atwell, an animal lover, contacted the group and offered to help. They bought the land that their new shelter sits on and contributed much needed building funds. Additional money was raised through fundraising and bequests.
They broke ground on September 27, 2007 and the end result is a magnificent facility. It is because of the dedication and perseverance of Carol Ebert, President and Cat Kennel Manager, and Paula Aslanian, Vice President and Dog Kennel Manager, that this rescue facility exists.
From the spacious dog runs with individual outdoor extensions, color themed cat rooms, separate laundry facilities for cats and dogs, to the hurrican doors and windows and everything in between, no detail was overlooked.
Please show your support, by helping them celebrate as they introduce their new facility to the public.
The ribbon cutting ceremony will take place on Friday July 9, from 3:00pm-5:00pm. Their grand opening is on Saturday and Sunday, July 10 & 11 from 12:00pm-4:00pm.
Sorry, no four legged friends!

Donations of bleach, paper towels, Pedigree canned dog food, any brand canned cat food, garbage bags and laundry supplies are always welcome.
Rescue groups work towards the day when their services will no longer be needed. Until that day, this shelter is a good place for the animals, as they wait for their forever homes.
