All though it hasn’t been officially announced, Bungie and Microsoft are showing Halo: Reach in 3D at GamesCom.
The news comes from German site VideoGamesZone who have pictures of the Microsoft booth where Halo: Reach is featured. While Sony has pushed the 3D capabilities of the PS3 hard since it was announced earlier this year, Microsoft has played it cool and quiet saying that they will wait and see how the market reacts to the technology.
Halo: Reach wouldn’t be the first game to be in 3D on the Xbox 360 but it would definitely be the biggest title yet. Previous titles included James Cameron’s Avatar: The Video Game and the Xbox LIVE Arcade game, Invincible Tiger.
At the moment, it is unclear if Halo: Reach is genuinely being developed with 3D in mind (Bungie previously said no) or if this is just a marketing trick using some of the latest HDTV technology that can simulate a 3D image from the source 2D image using the latest HDMI 1.4a technology. We’ll keep you updated as we find out more.
