The no-kill playthrough has been an iconic option for the MGS franchise: the ability to be able to make it through an entire game without killing anyone. Well, with Snake and Big Boss being legendary soldiers, accomplishing a no-kill playthrough playing as one of them seems plenty easier than playing as a cyborg ninja with a razor-sharp blade that can cut through anything. Can a game that features Raiden offer a no-kill playthrough?
IGN reports that Konami has confirmed that the answer is yes. Players will be able to kill mechanized enemies and cyborgs without penalty, but killing a human crosses the line for the no-kill playthrough. Raiden will be able to chop down enemy weapons, causing them to retreat, and apparently will also be able to get away with limb damage/severance for the no-kill playthrough as well.
Metal Gear Solid: Rising is scheduled to be released for PS3, Xbox 360, and PC in 2011. If there are any details, we’ll keep you posted.
