If you missed the book signing on 13 August 2010 “Piecing Stories Together One Frame at a Time” by M. Elise Solloway, you are in luck. Ms. Solloway will be at Full Circle Bookstore in Oklahoma City this Saturday, 21 August 2010 from 3:00 p.m. until 5:00 p.m. Ms. Solloway will be among other new authors so it should be an interesting afternoon.
Ms. Solloway has taught for many years starting with pre-school aged children, where she started her pictures books. These books followed the lessons and consisted mostly of stickers. Ms. Solloway went on to using photos pasted on paper and then to her own photos printed and bound. This led her to write her book about the process. She knew others would benefit from her experience.
Her book ” Piecing Stories Together One Frame at a Time” , is geared towards teachers and parents, but after reading it, found it would be helpful for all who wanted to tell a story. She has put the process of making a picture book in simple, understandable language or those of us who would not know where to start.
A portion of the profits of this book go towards the research and possible cure of PKD (Polycystic Kidney Disease). PKD is a genetic disorder that develops even as early in childhood as a newborn. For more information on this debilitating disease go to; www.pkdcure.org, or call 1-800-PKD-CURE. You can also write to the foundation at 9221 Ward Parkway, Suite 400, Kansas City, MO 64114. On 11 September 2010 there will be a PKD “Oklahoma Walk”. This fundraiser is a yearly event occurring several places nation wide.
Ms. Solloway is personable and easy to talk to, so if you have questions, she would be happy to answer them regarding her book or PKD.
Keep your eye on traffic and the weather as you go about your business.
