With the hot summer we’ve had here in St. Louis, many expectant mothers are more than ready for their little ones to arrive, along with the cool breezes of Fall.
Finding the perfect gift for a Fall baby can be difficult when the summer heat is still pressing in on us, but with a little forethought, you can give the perfect gift.
When shopping for the Fall baby, it’s important to remember that Autumn in St. Louis can still be very warm during the day, so heavy fabrics aren’t yet needed. Short sleeve onesies with matching long cotton knit pants are a great choice. Babies R Us carries the Carter’s brand of mix and match outfits in both girls and boys styles.
Morning and late evening hours can become quite cool, however, so lightweight hats and jackets are much appreciated.
Some newborns really like to be swaddled, but in the Fall, you don’t want to go with a product such as SwaddleMe in fleece. The cotton version will keep baby plenty snuggled, without overheating.
Fall is a great time to get outdoors and work off those pregnancy pounds. Help the new mommy introduce her little one to nature by providing a sling, so she can keep baby close on her walks or give a stroller cover to keep out the elements while baby enjoys a ride.
Indoor/outdoor travel bed or playard netting – This is another way for mom to get baby outdoors without the fear of insects or excessive wind-borne particles getting to her happily napping infant.
Long range baby monitor – For the mom who would like to get out in the yard in the Fall, but isn’t quite sure she’s ready to bring baby along, a long range baby monitor may set her mind at ease. Make sure you purchase a model that has a belt clip, so mom can move about freely, knowing she can hear baby wherever she goes.
Halo Sleepsack Wearable Blanket – Not only does this product keep baby safe by removing the suffocation hazard of traditional blankets, it also has an inverted zipper, so mom can change middle-of-the-night diapers easily. A lightweight cotton sleepsack is the perfect choice for Fall evenings.
Consider giving a picture frame with the theme Baby’s 1st Halloween or Baby’s 1st Thanksgiving. The new mom will appreciate having a place to showcase her little one’s cute outfits and first holidays.
Create a Scrapbook for baby’s photos. On brown paper, arrange yellow, red and gold die-cut leaves around a frame. Use orange lettering to spell out “Falling in Love with You” on the front cover or within the scrapbook page layout.
No matter what gift you choose, the new mommy will appreciate the thought you put into her and her little one’s comfort as the seasons begin to change.
