As I wrote on Tuesday a few candidates were ousted from the ballot; otherwise, things are as they were on that front with less than a month before early voting starts. Here’s some of the upcoming events:
Wednesday, August 11 – The Lower Shore Young Republicans are hosting a political roundtable for candidates, and the public is invited. The event will be held at the Chamber of Commerce Building in downtown Salisbury (144 East Main Street) beginning at 6:30 p.m.
Thursday, August 12 – District 38A hopeful John Phoebus is having a fundraiser featuring Kendal Ehrlich at the Great Hall – Holloway Hall, Salisbury University from 6:00 to 8:30 p.m. Cost is $50 per person. Call Leslie Wilson at 410-430-0856 or email@example.com to reserve tickets.
Saturday, August 14 – Target shooting fundraiser for Wicomico County Council candidate Mike Brewington at an undisclosed location. Suggested donation is $20 per person, with details and location available by calling (410) 860-1894.
Sunday, August 15 – Billed as a Picnic by the Creek, District 38A hopeful Charles Otto is hosting a fundraiser at 14451 Reading Ferry Road in Princess Anne from 2 to 5 p.m. (rain or shine.) District 38B candidate A. Kaye Kenney is hosting Pork in the Park on Sunday August 15, 2010 from 4:00 – 6:00 p.m. at White Horse Park in Ocean Pines, featuring the Backfin Banjo Band and BBQ by Emings.Tickets $20.00. RSVP by August 10 to (410) 632-3733 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org.
Thursday, August 19 – Saturday, August 21 – The Wicomico Farm and Home Show will be a popular campaigning spot for political aspirants through the three-day event. The show is held at Winterplace Park on Blue Ribbon Drive east of Salisbury from 4 – 9 p.m. on Thursday, noon – 9 p.m. on Friday, and 9:30 a.m. to 8:30 p.m. on Saturday. A highlight will be the Buffalo Chip toss featuring local elected officials and candidates on Saturday at 3 p.m.
Friday, August 20 – State Senator candidate (and current Delegate) Jim Mathias is sponsoring an “Out of this World” Happy Hour featuring State Senate President Thomas V. Mike Miller, Jr. The event will be held at Galaxy 66 Bar and Grill at 6601 Coastal Highway in Ocean City from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Cost starts at $150 with varying sponsorship levels up to $1,000. Sunday, August 22 – Congressman Frank Kratovil is the featured guest at a Crab Feast held at the home of Bud Hankins from 3 to 5 p.m. The cost is $75, with sponsor billing $500 and host billing $1000. The “Fighting for Phoebus” Crab Feast Fundraiser will be held for District 38A hopeful John Phoebus, with special guest boxer Fernando Guerrero from 4 to 7 p.m. at Somers Cove Marina, 715 Broadway in Crisfield. Also fundraising from 4 to 7 p.m. will be District 38B officeseeker Marty Pusey, with a Crab Feast to be held at The Mansion House, 4436 Bayside Road in Snow Hill. Tickets are $25 each or $160 for a table of 8, with sponsorship available for a $500 donation. (Kids under 12 get in free.) All-you-can-eat crabs, hot dogs, potato salad, and soft drinks (BYOB if you prefer.) For tickets, contact the candidate at (410)603-0855.
