At the rate things are going, however, that might mean that Froyo will reach the HTC Droid Incredible before the next batch of devices. According to Verizon, those who order today will see the Incredible ship on August 3rd.
According to BGR, they received an email from HTC detailing the release:
I wanted to pass along that the upcoming Incredible MR will also include Froyo (originally it was going to be two separate MRs).
We are targeting the end of the month/first part of August. As a reminder, below are the highlights:
- 802.11 n
- 3G Mobile Hot Spot
- HTC Widget: Email
- HTC Widget: News
- EAS Updates
- 720p Video Recording
- Amazon MP3
- My Verizon
There were reports last weekend that an OTA update was rolling out to the Incredible, but apparently that’s been halted, so that Froyo and the other update could be combined.
At the same time, an official Verizon Tech Support Twitter account Tweeted the following:
Told ya :) RT @BGR HTC DROID Incredible to be updated to Froyo end of July, early August http://goo.gl/fb/dSyGv
That same account tweeted the following about the original Droid:
Should be around same time as Incredible, but I’m aiming for early August.
So, Incredible users, does the fact that it looks like you might be the second device to get Froyo (after the Nexus One) make you feel any better about the long, long wait you had to get a device? And Droid owners, are you glad to be seeing Froyo love coming the way to your venerable device?
