No, I’m not talking martini’s here girls, I’m talking an extremely healthy drink you can easily make at home. It’s called “Green Drink”. While there are a million and one ways to make a Green Drink, there are basic recipes that you can start with and then you can mix and match, take away or add things later. (see a few recipes at the end of article)
What is a Green Drink you ask? For those of you that are raw foodies or even vegans, will know but the rest of us might not be able to take a break from the fast food and processed foods/drinks we intake to have ever heard of this drink.
Basically it’s a drink that most of the time contains kale. Other ingredients can be parsley or spinach, among celery, cucumber, apples or lemons. Doesn’t sound too delicious? If you love veggies and are willing to choose a healthy lifestyle this will go down smoothly! I recently whipped up one and it wasn’t half bad and if you think of all the health benefits of drinking a Green Drink you’ll endure the taste.
So what are the benefits?
Kale: Kale is rich in vitamin K. One cup (boiled) has 1062.10 mcg (1327.6% of the daily value). Because of this, individuals who take anti-coagulants, like warfarin, should avoid this food. Kale is also an excellent source of vitamin A (192.4%) and vitamin C (88.8%), both GREAT for the skin! Kale is also great for the bones, eyes and contains anticancer properties.
Kale also removes toxins from the body which will help with clearing the skin and making it healthy and smooth, not to mention kale improves the immune system and promotes weight loss!
Eating greens in general are a terrific source of nutrients, so the more greens you add to your “drink” the better. These drinks are jam packed with antioxidants, something we want floating around our insides to fight off free radical damage we endure just from walking outside. The more we have, the slower we will age on the outside as well as the inside!
