Woodland Park Zoo is hosting its first Zoo Fan Meetup on August 22nd from 9:30am-12:30pm and you really don’t want to miss out. The zoo is definitely a family friendly place for multiple moms and dads where a wagon(for 2!) is the kid-preferred method of transportation and kids under 3 are free! If you haven’t been there yet, this is a great day to visit a fabulous local destination. Parking in the lot is five dollars and there is often parking in the neighborhood too if you get there early. The fan meetup is free with your admission that day, but if you plan on return visits you should consider getting a membership. The Zoo fan booth will be near the penguins in the West Plaza and will have giveaways and contests. The first 20 people to stop by and say the special magic phrase (friend the zoo on facebook for this information) get a mystery prize.
Terumi’s tip: The giraffe feeding experience at the zoo is amazing! It costs five dollars per person but tots under three get free leaves with a paying adult. On an empty zoo morning I parked the wagon at the front of the line,(feedings are usually offered at 10:30am-ask at the entrance if this is something you plan to do) walked the ramp with my two crazy two year olds and the giraffe swooped down from above our heads to grab the leaves from our hands. Both tots were in awe. I’m bringing hubby next time to take pictures, but at 5 dollars for the three of us it was definitely a deal.
