Tuesday night’s episode of “Deadliest Catch” was the sort of television that captivated audiences — and also brought them to tears. The final footage of Captain Phil Harris was emotional and almost painful to watch at times, but it also managed to pull in a large audience.
According to a new report from Entertainment Weekly, the “Catch” episode Tuesday brought in a whopping 8.5 million viewers. Not only was that the top number for a cable show for the day, but it also was the highest-rated Discovery Channel broadcast in ten years.
Of course, it’s tough to celebrate something like ratings when you’re losing a man who was one of the best characters in all of television. Captain Phil will be missed, and the show will never be the same without his presence.
