You can have an aha moment or find a piece which offers you some form of inspiration; however, the execution of good design starts with a plan. Design, as with anything has a foundation–the principles and elements of design. A keen eye can always note when, where and how they are utilized in a project.
The desires and dreams for a particular space starts in the hearts and minds of the owner and the design formulates when they are expressed to the designer and he or she executes them and make them into a reality.
On the surface design appears to be relatively easy. Clients often feel as if they can accomplish their design on their own–because they see it done on television in less than an half an hour. However, in all actuality the process can be quite overwhelming and time consuming.
Employing the assistance of a designer is relative to employing a mechanic–finding someone with the talent and skill set to provide this necessary service. And there are many talented qualified designers throughout the Dayton Metro Area who are well capable of making your home and Dayton absolutely beautiful.
This week in regards to my topic, I would like to showcase the talents of Judith Duwell, owner of Design Concepts. Judy is an experienced professional interior designer who has over twelve years experience in the field. She has proved over and over again her ability to make her clients dreams reality. She sincerely desires to provide good design and accomplish this with every project. This is her philosophy and principle foundation for Design Concepts.
I have had the pleasure of interviewing Judy about design and have had casual conversations about the field and she maintains the same sentiment each time we have opportunity to chat.
Judy believes the design starts with a concept–note the name. She says she is often asked by potential clients, “What can an interior designer do for me that I can’t do?” She believes as an interior designer, she brings clarity to the clients wants and needs and balances those with their heart’s desire. She says she listens closely to them and makes sure she ask the right questions to learn what their hopes and dreams are for their project. Judy then takes those dreams and turn them into reality. Her customers have written raved reviews and refer her to their friends.
She says, “even when you believe you don’t know what you like or want, I promise it’s in there and I can bring it out. I solve each dilemma, avoid costly mistakes and will create a beautiful, affordable space designed specifically and especially for you.”
