For those looking for a romantic and one-of-a-kind dining experience, consider The Ritz-Carlton in Wolfsburg, Germany this summer. Culinary travelers will be interested to learn The Ritz-Carlton is offering a special floating restaurant where two to four guests can enjoy an over-the-top private meal on a small island in the Mittelland canal.
This summer, “The Island” has been turned into a unique dining destination, complete with a cruise around the Autostadt, followed by exquisite culinary creations. Choose from four different menu arrangements based on time of day. Two champagne breakfasts are available for early dining — with or without caviar. The “Island Tea” arrangement is perfect for a leisurely afternoon out — complete with premium loose leaf teas and champagne, freshly baked scones, savory delicacies and the finest patisserie. For those looking for that perfect, romantic setting as the sun goes down, book the “Riviera Dinner” that includes a three-course dinner of select seafood including lobster, mussels, and oysters, as well as premium champagne.

To start this experience, guests will board a nostalgic motorboat hailing from the 1940’s where they will be greeted by a personal skipper with a glass of champagne. The boat will cast off from the hotel’s own pier at the floating outside pool of The Ritz-Carlton and the journey begins. The skipper will explain intriguing factual details about the park landscape of the Autostadt, which is a visitor attraction next to the Volkswagen factory with a museum, featured pavilions for automobile brands in the Volkswagen group, and is home to the world’s largest glass doors and the longest printed line, which starts outside Wolfsburg and travels four miles through the Autostadt before finally ending on a farm.
After boating around the Autostadt, guests will head to the inner harbor and the largest of four artificial islands. Upon arrival, a butler will lead guests to a stylishly set teak table where guests will enjoy an unforgettable meal in a one-of-a-kind setting. The island is over 160 square meters and features willow arches over a wooden terrace. It looks to surrounding nature and to the other islands that are planted with alder, willow, water chestnut and pine trees.
The Ritz-Carlton’s floating restaurant is available now through the end of September and arrangements start at 120 euros and go up to 395 euros per person.
