It’ll be a busy weekend at Copper Mountain from Friday, Aug. 13 through Sunday, Aug. 15, with Copper’s ode to the guitar – Guitar Town and the ArtGuitar Silent Auction – and Copper’s ode to mountain living – the Mountain Home and Outdoor Expo.
First, Guitar Town: From Friday through Sunday there will be free performances by guitar legends Scott Goldman, Pete Huttlinger, Kaki King, Bryan Sutton, John Jorgenson, Richard Thompson, Mark Selby, Albert Lee, Sonny Landreth, Monte Montgomery and many more. Also on tap are multiple guitar workshops (one with Pete Huttlinger, another moderated by David Wilson from Tonequest Magazine and an additional clinic with JamPlay), kids’ music activities, Guitar Hero & Indoor Skatebowl sessions in The Woodward at Copper Cage, a giant mural, inflatable guitars and Village activities.
You can get VIP side-stage seating, access to the Coors Light Lounge, free beer, snacks, commemorative poster and reserved patio seating for Saturday and Sunday for $123.13 per person. Strange price, but a good one, that celebrates Copper Mountain’s 12,313-foot summit. VIP tickets are available at www.copperguitartown.com and will be available for pick-up on Friday before the show at the Copper Information Center adjacent to Burning Stones Plaza.
The ArtGuitar Silent Auction: Bids for the silent auction are now being accepted on-site at Guitar Center in Denver as well as at Copper Mountain throughout Guitar Town weekend. There will be a gallery showing on Friday during Guitar Town. The guitars will then be displayed throughout the Village at Copper on Saturday and Sunday.
Winning bids will be announced before the All-Star Jam on Sunday on the main Guitar Town stage at Copper. All proceeds from the silent auction will benefit the Copper Environmental Foundation. The ArtGuitars are now on display at Guitar Center in Denver. In the spirit of the “Chicago Cows,” artists from around the community and Colorado have designed, decorated, painted and created the ArtGuitars from damaged guitars. ArtGuitar artists are Dwight Eppinger, Kamla Presswalla, Jennifer Mosquera, Dunn – The Signtologist, Eric Matelski, Eric Buckner Winfield and Russ Wright.
Mountain Home and Outdoor Expo: Presented by the Summit County Builder’s Association, the expo showcases the region’s best designers, builders and environmentally-friendly practices. Presentations will range from cooking tips and ideas to pet training and remodeling tips. Non-profit organization that help support Colorado’s mountain communities, the Summit County Food Bank and other local organizations that provide community assistance will also be on hand. Go to www.summitcountybuilders.org for more information.
