It’s looking like a great weekend for racing and running at the Jersey Shore. With moderating temperatures expected to provide relief from the heat and humidity.
On Saturday, August 21, 2010 it’s the Annual Bradley Beach 5k that has been growing popular to runners the past several years. Last years event drew nearly900 participants and a field of over 1000 can be expected this year. It’s a fast and fast USATF certified course that starts on Ocean Avenue at 8:30 AM and makes its way through the tree lined streets in town with a finish b the grand gazebo on the oceanfront. There are always plenty of prizes and awards for overall and age group winners

Clarence has been a main stay on the Jersey Shore running scene for many years and approaching a spry 90 he is hoping to get back into the racing scene soon after recovering from a broken hip he suffered while climbing a tree in his back yard.
There are also kids races on Friday evening before the race.

The group that generally numbers around 40 or 50 meets at 8 AM at Bodman Park in Middletown. It’s a great course through some interesting scenic terrain in the Navesink section of Middletown.
