At the end of his earthly ministry, Jesus commanded his disciples to go “and make disciples of all nations . . . teaching them to observe all that I commanded you.” (Matthew 28: 19-21)
In order to fulfill that command, down through the centuries many disciples of Jesus have gone throughout the world making disciples, starting Christian churches, and transforming many countries using the teachings of Jesus and the rest of the Bible as the foundation for their beliefs and practices.
As part of fulfilling Jesus’ command, his disciples not only established great learning centers for studying God’s Word; but they also put their faith into action by establishing great hospitals and mission clinics so they could bring the healing touch of God to many people with various diseases and injuries.
Christians also put their faith into action by going into many countries bringing tons of food to feed starving people as commanded in 1 John 3:16-17.
There have also been many great Christian leaders that used God’s Word and principles to speak out against and transform the ungodly practices of some countries.
Although these things were done by great Christians to transform the world and bring God’s light and love to a dark world in obedience to Jesus’ command, there also have been dark times when some Christian leaders let worldly values transform them and the message that they preached in disobedience of the command of the Apostle Paul “not to be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind that you may prove what the will of God is.” (Romans 12: 2)
In other words, instead of letting God’s Word renew and transform them away from the values and practices of the wordly system; some Christian leaders and organizations let the ungodly, worldly system transform them and do many things that were contrary to God’s principles found in the Bible.
Just as that terrible practice happened during the darkness and excesses of the Middle Ages and made God raise up Christian leaders in the Reformation to get Christians to come back to following God’s principles; so it has also been happening in the last few decades and now once again God needs good Christians to speak up against that practice.
There have been some formerly great Christian organizations that have abandoned having the Word of God as the foundation for their beliefs and practices in favor of using modern and politically-correct beliefs and actions. As a result of doing that, they have been going down a slippery slope and condoning beliefs and actions that are prohibited in the Scriptures.
For example, how many Christian organizations have abandoned the guidelines of the Apostle Paul for Christian leaders that are found in 1 Timothy chapter four so they can accomodate leaders that have an alternative lifestyle?
How many Christian organizations have abandoned God’s principle of the sacredness of innocent life so they can support the slaughter of innocent pre-born babies through abortion or forms of ethnic cleansing?
How many supposedly Christian organizations have abandoned the teaching that Jesus loves the people of all races so they can keep their traditions of racial hatred?
And now how many supposedly Christian organizations will give up the heart of the Christian message of personal salvation through the sacrificial atonement of Jesus Christ on the cross so they can follow President Obama’s call for collective salvation?
The current tendency of having the Christian Church going down the slippery slope of accomodating politically-correct beliefs and actions and thus letting the world evangelize the church must stop and be reversed!
To begin this process, good Christians need to have a firm foundation of knowing and living by God’s principles found in the Bible, Then, they need to spread these principles to supposedly Christian organizations not following them. As they are reaching out and teaching them along with their neighbors, then our nation and then the world can once again be transformed by the principles found in God’s Word.
