Charlie Palmer Steak is just the best. Everything about this restaurant is done to perfection. Steaks are incredible, seafood is fresh, French fries were cut that morning, and the gnocchi are little pillows that come from heaven.
Located just across from the Capitol, there is not a bad seat in the house. Everyone can see the dome as they sip on their wine or cocktail and enjoy the decadence that is Charlie Palmer’s. It is important to note that while Charlie Palmer’s does have an incredible wine list; it is also a supporter of American wine. They allow you to bring up to two bottles of American wine free of corkage. This is only adds to the evening allowing you not to be intimidated by wine prices or allowing you to dine on a budget.
Charlie Palmer Steak treats everyone equally and the service is impeccable. You will never pour your own wine, your server is always there for questions, a sommelier is around for wine questions and suggestions, and the managers float the room as the conductors of this beautiful restaurant ballet.
The items you must eat are gnocchi and French fries. Having worked in an old school mom and pop restaurant for years I know how to make fries from scratch and make them well. The first time I ever bit into a Charlie Palmer French fry I was immediately back in my home of Siloam Springs, America. While my fries costed only $1.99 a pound these are just slightly more, but worth it in every way. And the gnocchi really does come from heaven. They are perfectly nestled in their cheesy creamy sauce that they melt away all the stress of the day.
Charlie Palmer Steak is the best steak in the city hands down and one of the best restaurant experiences one can have in their lifetime. Even if the only items you can afford are the fries, gnocchi, and a glass of red wine at the bar, do it. This is an experience that should not be missed.
